Burnley have completed the signing of David Datro Fofana on loan from Chelsea until the end of the campaign.

The Ivory Coast forward spent the first half of the season on loan at Bundesliga club Union Berlin, making 17 appearances and scoring against Napoli in the Champions League.

The 21-year-old becomes the Clarets’ first signing of the January window as Vincent Kompany’s side aim to climb out of the bottom three.

“It feels very good to be here, I’m really happy. I think it will be a really good place for me to progress and it’s the perfect move for me," he told the club website.

“To work with Vincent Kompany will be very good. I have seen a couple of games already and I think this is the right place for me to make the next steps.

“I have known about Burnley for a long time, they have been in the Premier League before this season and the champions last year and I’m now looking forward to being a part of this team.”

Fofana began his career in his home country before heading to Norwegian top-flight side Molde in 2021.

He was snapped up by Chelsea in January 2023 and has made three Premier League appearances for the Blues, including his first start in a 1-0 defeat against Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
