Rovers full-back Tayo Edun has completed a permanent move to League One club Charlton Athletic.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper over an initial two-year deal at the Valley and joins for an undisclosed fee.

Edun was made available for a move earlier this summer after failing to nail down a place in Jon Dahl Tomasson’s squad.

He did not travel to the recent training camp in Austria and has not featured in any pre-season matches.

“I’m here to compete, so I'm looking forward to getting in and meeting the boys as soon as possible,” Edun told the club website.

“They will help me find my feet and then obviously together we can all push on. It's really positive and I'm just looking forward to getting going."

The full-back’s last appearance for Rovers was on January 31, coming off the bench in extra time during the FA Cup win at Birmingham.

“We’ve had to be really patient with this signing,” added Charlton boss Dean Holden.

“He’s a player that we’ve chased for quite a while now and I’m glad that it’s all done and he’s a Charlton Athletic player.

“He’s got real good quality on the ball in terms of his technical ability, he can get up and down the pitch and he can play in a couple of positions as well.

“Crucially, more than anything, he’s desperate to come here. He’s got huge ambition and that’s the key thing for me.

“He comes here and he’s going to be a leader who really drives the rest of the players on alongside him. He’s a really exciting player who I’m delighted that we’ve signed.”

Charlton finished 10th in League One last season and have also brought in the likes of Alfie May, Harry Isted and Panutche Camara this summer.

An official statement read: “Rovers would like to thank Tayo for his service and wish him all the very best with Charlton and in his future career.”
