Vincent Kompany and Hjalmar Ekdal have been nominated for their respective monthly Championship awards.

Kompany is up for the Manager of the Month prize for February after picking up 14 points from six matches.

Burnley kicked off the month with an emphatic 3-0 victory at Norwich thanks to goals from Anass Zaroury, Vitinho and Ekdal.

The Clarets also recorded big wins against Huddersfield and local rivals Preston, as well as a hard-fought 1-0 victory at promotion hopefuls Luton.

Kompany’s side scored 13 goals in total last month, conceding just twice in that time to maintain their position at the top of the table.

They are unbeaten in the league since a 5-2 defeat at second-place Sheffield United in early November.

The Burnley boss now faces competition from Michael Carrick, Nigel Pearson and Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Carrick’s Middlesbrough picked up 12 points from five games in February, including a crucial win against Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, Pearson extended Bristol City’s unbeaten run to nine games and collected 11 points in total.

Tomasson guided Blackburn back into the top six following an unbeaten month, conceding just three times in six matches.

Meanwhile, Ekdal has had a promising start to his Burnley career after joining from Djurgardens IF in the January window.

The 24-year-old made six appearances last month and provided stability at the heart of defence in Jordan Beyer’s absence.

Ekdal’s goal at Norwich - an instinctive finish from close range after the hosts had failed to deal with Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s corner - was his first for the club.

Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom is also shortlisted after scoring five goals in as many games in February.

Meanwhile, Millwall forward Tom Bradshaw is in the mix after scoring five goals, including a hat trick against Sheffield United.

36-year-old Kyle McFadzean completes the nominations after helping Coventry keep three clean sheets in five games.

The winners will be announced on Friday, March 10 and the judging panel is made up of EFL chief executive Trevor Birch, Don Goodman and Ivor Davies.
