DEFENDING 20/20 champions Enfield got the defence of their crown off to a losing start with a five-wicket defeat by Rishton.

The champions made 130 for 9 thanks to Adam Bracewell's 55. Rishton pro Saeed Anwar and Shaun Hutchinson both picked up three wickets apiece.

And John Seedle top scored with 32 as the Lancashire League champions cruised home to victory.

Ramsbottom pro Lou Vincent smashed an unbeaten 87 from 61 balls to lead his side to a seven-wicket win over Rawtenstall.

Chasing 146 for 5, Vincent hit seven fours and four sixes to guide his side to an easy victory.

Colne's paid man, Blake Snijman, hit 79 as the Horsfield side beat a makeshift Todmorden outfit.

Snijman's knock was the mainstay of his side's 166 for 8.

Todmorden could only muster 123 in reply.

Haslingden's Steve Dearden made 107 from 51 balls to lead his side to victory over Ribblesdale League side Edenfield.

Haslingden posted 179 for 4 and Edenfield made a good fist of their reply with pro Baber Naeem top-scoring with 46, but they came up 16 runs short.

East Lancs beat Church, despite a fine performance with the ball from Andrew Bentley. He took 4 for 24 as East Lancs made 130 for 7 and Church fell 23 runs short in their chase.

In the only match on Thursday, Nelson started their tilt at the title with a 33-run win over Lowerhouse.
