ACCRINGTON kept up their Lancashire League renaissance with an emphatic 34-run victory at Bacup.

A full Saturday programme saw the Thorneyholme Road outfit grab another maximum 12 points.

It is an unexpected excellent start to the campaign for Accy after finishing bottom of the table last term.

They were first indebted to a dogged batting display, with Simon Hanson (35), Paul Carroll (23) and Stuart Crabtree (19) weighing in as Accrington made 133, with pro Chris Harris taking 7-53.

Skipper David Ormerod, who also chipped in with a vital 16 not out, then set about the hosts, with 6-35, as Bacup were shot out for 99.

Lancashire League legend Keith Roscoe celebrated his 1,000th league wicket for Rawtenstall in his side's 42-run success at Enfield.

The hosts initially looked on course for victory, bowling out Rawtenstall for 90, with Keith Barker picking up 5-31, but Roscoe (3-9) and pro Neil McCullum (7-32) tore Enfield apart.

A dramatic affair at West End saw Church edge East Lancs by one run.

The visitors posted a healthy 176, with David Pearson (43) and pro Shanan Stewart (48) top scoring.

But Church dug deep, despite fine bowling from Nas Iqbal (6-61), Adam Greenwood holding on with an unbeaten 38 following earlier knocks of 35 and 33 respectively from openers Sagawat Hussain and Alec Holt.

Nelson turned in a very comprehensive display as they swept aside Haslingden by 73 tuns.

Batting first, Nelson clocked up 189, with David Crotty (41), Neil Thompson (36) and Thomas Lord (28) showing the way.

Haslingden only mustered 116 in reply and, at one stage, were tottering at 49-6.

Champions Rishton picked up a 35-run win over bogey side Burnley.

Andy Bartley top scored with 78 as Burnley posted 191-6, with Rishton only reaching 156 in reply.

Elsewhere, Ramsbottom demolished Colne by 127 runs, with Phil Hayes (67) and Simon Read (54) chalking up half centuries, while Todmorden enjoyed a 73-run triumph at Haslingden.
