The Lancashire League season starts this weekend. Here, Lancashire Telegraph Sport looks at Burnley.

  • Captain: Qasim Ali
  • Professional: Jeeva Kulatunga (Sri Lanka)
  • Last season: 4th
  • Ins: Billy Jamal (Nelson), Aneeq Hassan (Lostock CC), Steven Holden, Steve Whittaker
  • Outs: Jon Harvey (Read), Jonathan Clare (Derbyshire), Vishal Tripathi (Milnrow), Ali: "The spirit in the camp is good and the lads are raring to go.

"We're hopeful of a good season, but it all depends on how we play on the day.

"We've lost some quality players, with Jon Harvey, Jonathan Clare and Vishal Tripathi leaving.

"That's basically 3,000 runs and 100 wickets a season - it's a big hole to fill.

"But at the same time, it's an oppotunity for some of our younger players to come in and show what they are all about.

"There may just be another young future county cricketer waiting in the wings.

"You are going to find experience at every club but, at the same time, you are building for the future.

"That's why we are going to blood the younger lads slowly and see if they can handle the pressure in the first-team.

"It's going to be a tough challenge this season, for a lot of different reasons. It's just about making steady progress."
