Prestwich blew away former leaders Clifton to return to the top of the GMCL Premier Division as the title race remains wide open.

Sub pro Sachithra Serasinghe (72) was well supported by Jack Doyle (56) as the home side posted 278-7.

Nathan Bailey’s opening spell did most of the damage in the second innings, taking 6-42 as Clifton were bowled out for 68.

Woodbank went down to a narrow one-wicket defeat at Flixton.

A last-wicket partnership between Stephen Holt and Subtain Raza Shah worth 38 pulled Woodbank up to 105 all out.

The run chase was far from straight forward, and ultimately it was again the final pair that proved to be crucial, with Kamran Basharat finishing on 22 not out to see Flixton over the line.

On Sunday, in a rearranged game, Woodbank bounced back to pick up six points at home to Glodwick.

The visitors were all out for 181 batting first, Stephen Holt taking 3-24. Woodbank’s reply was led by professional Imran Mirza who finished unbeaten on 73.

Bury are up to fourth in Premier 2 after a 32-run win at Heywood.

The visitors were in trouble at 0-2, but the innings was recovered by Dom Morris (63) and Alex Breckin (53) as Bury posted 185-6.

Heywood looked to have recovered from 62-5 in their reply but four wickets apiece for Breckin and Ahmed Matloob ensured Heywood fell short.

Stand picked up an important win over Woodhouses to move above their opponents. They were bowled out for 147 but the home side could only manage 106 in reply with Adam McGladdery taking 5-20.

Championship Edenfield won for the first time in the league this season in dramatic circumstances at Winton. Edenfield were bowled out for 66 but that remarkably proved to be a winning total as Dan Jenkins took 7-10 to help his side to five points at the 12th attempt in 2021.

Brooksbottom extended their winning run to move further clear at the top. Ash Gowers top scored with 68 not out as the league leaders scored 205-8 – a personal score that Whalley Range didn’t match as they were bowled out for 52, Mohsin Iqbal taking 6-23 and Stephon Ramdial 4-24.

In Division 2A, third in the table Radcliffe thrashed second-placed Worsley by 118 runs.

East Lancs Paper Mill won a thriller away to Elton 2s – winning by one wicket.

Tottington St Johns made light work of defending their 125, bowling out Hindley St Peters for 55 as Michael Burns took 8-19.

In Division 3W, Unsworth beat Woodbank 2s by just five runs.

Ramsbottom are up to sixth in Lancashire League Division One after their 47-run win at home to Todmorden, paid man Daryn Smit making 94 and taking 4-27.

Greenmount are third in Division Two after a two-wicket win at Haslingden, Tom Heaton scoring 61.
