Tom White has become the first of the players released by Rovers to secure a new club.

White has signed for League Two club Barrow AFC where he enjoyed a successful loan spell in 2019/20, playing 19 times.

The midfielder, who had a two-month spell with Hartlepool United earlier this year, has agreed a one-year deal with the Bluebirds, with the option of a further 12 months.

White helped the club to an historic promotion back to the Football League in 2020 before reuniting with Ian Evatt for the first half of this season at Bolton Wanderers before that was cut short in January after making just 14 appearances.

White’s departure from Rovers was confirmed last month, the 24-year-old leaning without making a senior appearance and featuring just eight times for the Under-23s after his move from Gateshead in 2019.

He will now hope to progress his career with Barrow after becoming the third signing made by new boss Mark Cooper.

The club, who sacked David Dunn in December and then his replacement Michael Jolley two months later, finished 21st last season.
