Rovers players ratings from the 2-2 draw at Cardiff City.

Thomas Kaminski 5

Fortunate to escape a red card in the first half when tripping Wilson, and unable to keep out the two goals despite getting touches to both, the second stemming from a poor clearing kick. His best save came when denying a long-range effort from Sang with the score at 2-1.

Ryan Nyambe 6

Wasn’t able to assert himself on the game in the first half, and that typified Rovers’ struggles, penned into his own half. Had much more space to work into in the second half, and was able to spend more time in the opposition half.

Darragh Lenihan 5

In the air was almost faultless, but given as tough a test by Moore from open play as he has any striker this season. Wilson ran off him for a second half chance, while far too often gaps opened up in the centre of the defence.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis 6

Didn’t look as comfortable as he has previously, too often getting embroiled in a physical battle he didn’t need to, but has been one who can emerge with credit from this recent run having cemented his place in the side.

Barry Douglas 6

Still waiting for his first Rovers goal, and won’t come much closer, his dipping free kick coming back off the crossbar.

Tom Trybull 6

Had 56 touches in the first half, an indictment of so little movement ahead of him, but also the lack of tempo to his play. One excellent first half tackle to deny Moore. Replaced as Rovers went in search of an equaliser.

Bradley Johnson 6

Played in a particularly advanced role, and because of it, there was no link to the attack from the midfield in the first half, at times almost playing alongside Armstrong in a front two. Did break clear in the second half to see a shot come back off the post, while his aerial qualities defensively were welcomed.

Lewis Travis 6

Looked off the pace, and out of the game, in the first half, but gave Rovers some drive in the second. Does seem to suit a midfield two, breaking from the centre of the pitch, than playing on the right of a three.

Sam Gallagher 7

Was the outlet that Rovers looked to use for aerial clearances, and had the first effort on target of the game, shooting straight at Smithies from distance. Was unlucky not to score in the second, one shot coming back off the bar, and another hitting the side netting.

Harvey Elliott 6

An 11th assist of the season, five of which have come for Armstrong, who he set up again, having done so inside two minutes. Denied a clean run on goal by an excellent challenge, and showed his frustrations at the officials on more than one occasion.

Adam Armstrong 8

Remains’ Rovers go-to man for goals, and he came up with two of them, late in either half, to earn them a point. Looked much more himself in the second, linking up the play and becoming more involved. Fired wide in both halves, and saw another saved by Smithies, in among a total of eight shots across the game.

Subs

Ben Brereton (for Gallagher, 78) 6

Went close to a late equaliser when curling wide from the left edge of the box. Still needs to find a little cuteness to his play around the box to back up his driving runs.

Tyrhys Dolan (for Elliott, 78) 6

Ran at Ng from the moment he was sent on, winning one dangerous free kick, but was dispossessed twice and left frustrated at times.

Jacob Davenport (for Johnson, 78) 6

Sent on to add energy in the midfield.

Stewart Downing (for Trybull, 78) 6

Looked to get on the ball higher up the pitch than Trybull had, drifting into the right channel at times to link with Dolan.

Lewis Holtby (for Travis, 78) 7

Came up with the assist for Armstrong with a neat pass, also seeing a shot blocked from a Douglas free kick.
