Stoke City have suspended winger James McClean and ruled out of selection for tomorrow’s game at Ewood Park.
McClean has been suspended by the Championship club pending an investigation into an alleged breach of Covid-19 regulation.
Stoke say that related to ‘training in a private gym’, with McClean reported to have posted images on social media site Instagram of him boxing with a trainer which is prohibited under current lockdown rules.
McClean has played 21 times for Stoke this season, including in the reverse fixture against Rovers last month, but won’t be considered for selection for tomorrow’s game.
A statement on the official Potters website read: "Stoke City can confirm that James McClean has been suspended with immediate effect pending a disciplinary hearing into an alleged breach of Covid-19 regulations, namely training in a private gym.
"As a result of the suspension, McClean will not be available for selection for Saturday's game against Blackburn Rovers."
The 31-year-old signed for the Potters in the summer of 2018 for £5m from West Brom and has since played 103 times for the club.
