Rovers have signed goalkeeper Felix Goddard after the teenager impressed while on trial.

Goddard has agreed a two-year scholarship deal with Rovers and will continue his development with Rovers Under-18s having been available since leaving Manchester City.

The 16-year-old featured in the defeat to Manchester United earlier this month, with Mike Sheron’s side still looking for their first points of the campaign after a weekend defeat to Wolves.

Goddard left City in the summer and will compete for the gloves with Aidan Dowling after Jordan Eastham’s progression in to the Under-23s following his two-year professional deal.

Eastham started the Under-23s’ win over Manchester City last week and featured in pre-season for the first-team, with Joe Hilton, who joined from Everton last summer, is currently out injured.

Andrew Fisher made his first senior appearance for Rovers in three years in the Carabao Cup win over Doncaster in August and is expected to leave on loan should the club bring in another goalkeeper at first-team level.

Born in Germany to British parents, Goddard was brought up in Singapore before joining the City academy at the age of 13 in 2017.

He will now look to follow in the footsteps of a number of Rovers youngsters who have progressed to the first-team set-up at Ewood Park after leaving another north west club.
