CRICKET returned to The Pingot with a bang at the weekend as both Westleigh teams recorded emphatic victories.
The club had never beaten Monton prior to Saturday’s fixtures but the first and second teams were victorious by 8 and 9 wickets respectively
For the firsts Andy Lloyd starred with the ball conceding only 19 runs from his 10 overs to restrict Monton to 194.
In the reply Ellis Whittle and Jameel Stuart both finished 61 not out, the former registering his first Westleigh half century.
There were spectacular scenes in the second team as Sean Makinson recorded the second best bowling figures in the history of the club with 9/17 off his 9 overs in bowling Monton out for 53.
Craig Ralph hit an unbeaten 42 off 46 balls to see the away side to their target with ease.
