THIS year's SD34 Championship is set to go right down to the wire.

With only two rounds left, Accrington's Steve Johnson is leading by just a single point from Dave Blackburn.

The Melbourne Airfield Stages, organised by Bolton-le-Moors car club is the next event, with the Weeton Stages, on December 9, the grand finale.

Johnson, who won the Championship last year and will be competing this weekend in his Nissan Micra, said: "It's got all the ingredients for a fantastic finish. Dave won it three years ago and he's always a tough competitor.

"It couldn't be any closer in the Championship and it looks like it will go right to the very end."

This weekend competitors head to Anglesey for the first stage rally on the redeveloped course. The event is being held over two days, with both counting towards the Championship.
