Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings from the 2-2 draw at Brentford.

Christian Walton

Appeared to have his own duel with Benrahma, denying him on five separate occasions, saving the best until last when saving with his feet late on. Given no chance with either of the goals as his impressive run of form continues.

Ryan Nyambe 7

Wasn’t given much protection, but ran his side in to trouble on a couple of occasions in either half. Couldn’t provide much of a threat going forward, but made one outstanding, goal-saving block.

Darragh Lenihan 7

Was appealing for offside when Watkins took down the ball before reducing the arrears. Too many long, hopeful balls proved ineffective. A second half header flashed wide of the target.

Tosin Adarabioyo 7

His passes ranged from outstanding to sloppy, but was able to find a level of control out from the back his partner could. Several well placed interceptions throughout.

Amari’i Bell 7

Less of the threat came down his side, but was the man adjudged to have pushed Roerslav for the contentious Brentford penalty. Like Nyambe, played his side in to trouble at times in possession.

Bradley Johnson 8

Was tiring in the late stages, but gave Rovers some bite and physicality in the middle of the park. Won four tackles in all.

Lewis Travis 8

Won more tackles (6) than anyone on the pitch, and never stopped running, even deep in to injury time. Could have been more instinctive with the ball, but will never be faulted for effort.

Stewart Downing 7

Wandered around the midfield areas, not having a clear position for long spells. Fizzed a second half free kick goalwards that Raya held on to.

John Buckley 7

Found it hard going out of possession, but to his credit never gave up. Didn’t look comfortable in the wide areas, but looked more at ease when coming inside to get involved in the play. Was fouled for the penalty from which Armstrong scored.

Adam Armstrong 8

Calmly dispatched his 11th and 12th goals of the season, but should have had a hat-trick when clean through at 2-2, only to be denied by Raya who was equal to a first half free kick. Had seven shots in all and remains Rovers’ main goal threat.

Dominic Samuel 7

Struggled to get involved in the game, a scuffed first half shot apart. Started up front but was moved out wide to try and contain Rico Henry.

Subs

Sam Gallagher (for Buckley, 64) 6

Ran his heart out, but lacked a little quality to help Rovers keep the ball late on.

Elliott Bennett (for Samuel, 73) 6

Added some protection to the right-hand side along with Nyambe.
