Burnley made four wins in their last five Premier League games with an eventful victory over Bournemouth.

A dramatic afternoon saw Matej Vydra, Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil get the Clarets goals with VAR a major talking point.

Bournemouth had a Josh King goal ruled out in the first half, Philip Billing adjudged to have handled Andrew Surman’s corner into his path.

Vydra then got the opener eight minutes into the second half before a remarkable passage of play saw Burnley awarded a penalty for an Adam Smith handball that came in the build-up to Harry Wilson scoring for the visitors.

Rodriguez made no mistake and Sean Dyche’s side then created a host of chances in the closing stages, McNeil firing one of them home from 20 yards.

Who was your man of the match? See if you agree with our player ratings below.

Nick Pope 7

Made a number of big saves in the first half which ultimately proved key in the final outcome. Looked composed in the wind.

Phil Bardsley 6

Impressive early challenge on Josh King snuffed out a clear chance. Booked for a physical challenge on the same player in the second.

James Tarkowski 8

Clarets had a largely shaky first half at the back but Tarkowski was as solid as a rock. Battled through a knock in the second half before being unimpressed with a Smith challenge late on.

Ben Mee 7

Made an unconvincing start but soon rebounded with some thumping interceptions. Picked up a late booking

Charlie Taylor 7

Nearly laid on a first half goal for Vydra and stuck to his task in both attack and defence on a day where Bournemouth got plenty of joy down the flanks.

Jeff Hendrick 6

Game simply passed him by in the first half, to the annoyance of some of the terraces. On a day where many shone, this was an off day. Booked for a rash challenge late on.

Jack Cork 7

Tested Ramsdale with one tricky shot from distance but Bournemouth strode through midfield too easily in the first half. Grew in the second, as did his team-mates. Made way for Josh Brownhill to make his debut late on.

Ashley Westwood 7

Purposeful in the middle of the park. Nearly scored from a corner again at the start of the second half and was within a whisker of laying on a goal for Vydra.

Dwight McNeil 8

Always available and always looking to get the Clarets going. Provided assist for Vydra and it was his cross that resulted in Smith handball. Nearly had another assist for Rodriguez from a sublime cross before hitting the post and then getting his goal with a fine finish.

Matej Vydra 8

Should have scored in the first half but his moment came in the second as he fired past Ramsdale eight minutes after the interval. Couldn’t quite stretch far enough to convert Westwood’s pass late on. Giving Sean Dyche plenty to think about.

Jay Rodriguez 8

Led the line expertly and got his reward from the penalty spot after one of the more dramatic passages of play of the season. Then came close with two further efforts, the second should have been converted.
