Tosin Adarabioyo believes Rovers are perfectly placed to make a concerted push for the top six in the final 13 games of the season.

Back-to-back wins has moved Rovers up to eighth and within three points of the top six spots after John Buckley and Adarabioyo were on target at The Valley.

Rovers have been decimated by injuries, and remain outsiders for play-offs having not been in the top six all season.

But the 22-year-old says a togetherness in the group can carry them a long way, even with the amount of injuries that Tony Mowbray is having to contend with.

“It’s perfect for us,” the Manchester City loanee said.

“We knew how close it would be to get in the play-offs this season, so we just need to keep going in the remaining games.

“Everyone knows that we’ve lost a lot of our key players.

“We had a big squad and the players in it now are doing a good job.

“Whoever steps onto the pitch knows we have to go out there and get the job done.”

Rovers face a tough assignment and will have their play-off credentials tested as they travel to fourth-placed Brentford this weekend.

Mowbray’s side were beaten 5-2 at Griffin Park last season and the Bees have been in promotion contention for the much of the season.

However, Rovers will take confidence from having beaten the Bees at Ewood in November.

“Everyone knows what Brentford are about. We just have to step up our game again and try to get the result there,” Adarabioyo added.

The Charlton win was played in testing conditions, with both managers feeling Rovers’ ability to deal with them better was vital to their victory.

Adarabioyo agreed, admitting: “We’re obviously delighted with the result because it was a tough game in tough conditions, but we managed to get the job done.

“It was very tough, the wind didn’t help, but we did well and used it to our advantage to get the win.

“We knew all this week what the conditions would be like, and prepared for that and the game plan worked.”

It was a second goal of the season for Adarabioyo, which put Rovers 2-0 up, and while not the cleanest of finishes, it’s one he will certainly take.

“It hit my shin to be honest, but you take it. You have to get yourself in a position to score a goal,” he explained.

“Our main focus was about going out there and defending well. We all know each other’s game well now and we’re one big group.”
