CHARLIE Taylor has welcomed a few days off but believes Burnley would be just fine without the winter break.

The Premier League introduced the new schedule for the first time this season with the Clarets having 13 days between the goalless draw with Arsenal and this Saturday’s trip to Southampton.

Sean Dyche’s side are unbeaten in three and will hope their momentum has not slowed during their time off with Taylor believing the break from action is designed with the division’s big hitters in mind.

“The top clubs play a lot of games and I think they probably need it more than us,” the left back said.

“We’re on a good run at the minute so it’s not come at a great time but we’ll use it to our advantage, be fresh for the run in.

“People would probably like it more over the Christmas period but it’s famous in this country with all the fixtures.

“You get to February and you just want to crack on with the rest of the season.

“It’s new and I think the big teams will welcome it more than us, those in Champions League and the cups.

“For us, with the Premier League just being the main aim you play once a week so we’re relatively fresh but we’ll use it to our advantage.

“Lads know what they’ve got to do, they’ve got to stay fit because the next game is never too far away.”
