JOHN Coleman has refused to rule out midfielder Sean McConville for this Saturday's game against Portsmouth.

Stanley's vice-captain was substituted in the first half of the 1-1 draw at Tranmere Rovers' Prenton Park last Saturday after falling awkwardly on his shoulder.

McConville had previously missed three games earlier on in the season with a similar injury, but to the other shoulder.

Coleman highlighted how his talisman had previously broken his collarbone and this is what causing the issue: "He’s been to see a specialist. It’s one of them, it’s grey area.

"It’s the shoulder he damaged five or six years ago; I think he broke his collarbone when he was at Stockport. "It’s not as bad as when he did his other shoulder earlier on in the season.

"The prognosis is two to four weeks, but the other prognosis was six to eight and he came back after three.

"He says he feels a lot better than what he did last time. I don’t think he’ll be too far away; I wouldn’t rule him out of this Saturday."

McConville missed Tuesday's win over Bolton Wanderers in the Leasing.com Trophy and if he was to be included on Saturday, it would be a huge boost for Coleman and his side.

Saturday's opponents are on a fine run of form which has seen manager Kenny Jacket nominated for the League One manager of the month award for November.
