Lewis Travis looks set to make league appearance number 50 of his career at Swansea City and says he doesn’t feel out of place in the Championship.

Less than 12 months ago the combative midfielder was still waiting for a first Championship start and a host of League One clubs were eyeing his services on loan in January.

But Travis has never looked back since taking his opportunity in defeat at Sheffield United on December 29 and has featured in 18 of Rovers’ 20 league games this season.

And ahead of reaching a half century of league appearances, the 22-year-old said: “It’s what I’ve worked for since I was a boy so to reach 50 appearances is great recognition for me.

“It’s crazy when I think back to this time last year. It looked like I’d be heading out on loan and now I’m on 50 games for the club.

“I feel I’ve adapted to the league well. There’s a lot of great players in this division but I don’t think I’m out of place here.

“Two years ago I knew I could play at League One because I did play games here and there. Since then, and since promotion to the Championship, I feel like I’ve adapted quite well.

“It’s been a massive spell for us and I think we’ve come good at a great time and shot up the table.”

Rovers travel to the Liberty Stadium on the back of four consecutive wins, and Travis told the club website: “We always knew about the potential in the team. We have some great players and have the quality to be up fighting towards the top of the table.

“It’s just been about joining it all together and getting the job done on the pitch.”

“We’ll hopefully climb higher up the table come the start of next week.”
