The Clarets suffered a nightmare in North London, going down to a 5-0 defeat to Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Here’s how the Burnley players rated…

Nick Pope – 5

Didn’t have much of a chance with any of the goals but still conceded five and it could have been more had it not been for the post and a last-gasp Tarkowski tackle.

Matt Lowton – 4

A performance best described as below-par. Gave the ball away constantly and has to take a share of the blame for a couple of the goals. Booked and could have been sent off.

James Tarkowski – 5

The pick of the back four but that wasn’t difficult. Looked the most assured in front of Pope but still didn’t have enough of a grip on the Spurs frontline.

Ben Mee – 4

Dyche really needed his skipper to step up to the plate today but it was  bad day at the office. Backed off Kane for the opener.

Erik Pieters – 4

Struggled to contain Spurs down his side and had no joy with Son. Unable to get forward and support McNeil.

Robbie Brady – 4

Unlucky not to be in the starting XI in midweek but did nothing to suggest he’ll start next weekend against Newcastle.

Jack Cork – 5

Kept trying until the end but found himself down the job of two men in the middle of the park. Has struggled without Westwood.

Jeff Hendrick – 4

Given the nod over Drinkwater but looked lost for the most part. Started poorly and didn’t improve as Spurs started to run riot.

Dwight McNeil – 6

Managed to get some change out of Aurier but his forward play didn’t manage to create anything much. One of only a couple of Burnley players to come out with any credit.

Jay Rodriguez – 6 – Star man

Had a couple of chances and perhaps should have done better with a first-half header which was comfortable for Gazzaniga. Just shaded man of the match.

Chris Wood – 4

Didn’t bully the Spurs defence enough and made little impact up front. Not his natural game to play with back to goal but needs to be stronger at times.

Matej Vydra – 4

Little impact when on as a second half sub. Difficult to come into a game which is already lost though.

Aaron Lennon – 5

Given a great reception on his return to Tottenham and at least tried to provide a spark. Near-impossible game to come into.
