Rovers have released dates for their six Premier League Cup group games which starts next month.

Billy Barr’s side are one of 32 teams in the competition which is made up of eight groups of four, with the top two in each qualifying for the knockout stages.

Rovers were beaten in the last 16 of the opening two years of the competition but progressed to the last quarter-finals last year, only to be knocked out by Everton.

The two East Lancashire sides were previously drawn together in the 2016/17 season, with Rovers winning both matches. Rovers also came out on top when the sides met in the Lancashire Senior Cup final in May.

Also in the group at Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough.

Rovers start with a trip to Palace on Thursday, October 3 (1pm) with the game set to be played at Dulwich Hamlet FC

Next up on Friday, November 8 (7pm) they host Middlesbrough at the Lancashire FA headquarters, Leyland.

Ewood Park is the venue for the first Rovers v Burnley clash on Friday, November 29 (7pm).

The reverse fixtures start with a home match with Crystal Palace on Friday, January 17 (7pm) with Leyland again the venue.

They travel to Middlesbrough on Friday, February 7 (7pm), with the game set to be played at Bishop Auckland FC.

The final group game is at Morecambe FC on Thursday, February 20 (1pm) between Burnley and Rovers.

Both Rovers and the Clarets progressed to the last eight of the Lancashire Senior Cup where they will met Everton and AFC Fylde respectively.

Barr’s side overcame Accrington Stanley 2-0 in round one while Steve Stone’s Burnley beat Fleetwood Town on penalties.
