MATTY Ashton – Warrington Wolves’ new signing for 2020 – has been shortlisted for the Betfred Championship Young Player of the Year award.
The 21-year-old finished as the second tier’s top tryscorer for 2019 having crossed 30 times for Swinton Lions.
Ashton is up against Widnes Vikings centre Keanan Brand – a player who is widely expected to join the winger at The Halliwell Jones Stadium next year – and Leigh Centurions’ Joe Cator for the award.
Ex-Wire player Gareth O’Brien and former Warrington academy hooker Andy Ackers are part of an all-Toronto Wolfpack shortlist for the Championship Player of the Year prize, with Jon Wilkin completing the nominees.
The winners will be announced at the Betfred Championship and League One Awards Night in Manchester on Tuesday, September 24.
