Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out the player ratings after the 2-0 win over Millwall.

Christian Walton 7

The shots and crosses that came his way, he dealt with well. Was quickly off his line twice to good effect in the second half. No nervy moments with the ball at his feet.

Elliott Bennett 8

Snatched at a first-half chance when played through by Dack. Defended manfully, including one excellent late block which knocked him to the floor, and one to deny Mahoney in the first half. In the wars throughout.

Tosin Adarabioyo 7

Wasn’t overly tested defensively but showed his prowess in passing out from the back on his return to action after injury.

Darragh Lenihan 8

Won five headers as Rovers had to deal with an aerial bombardment late on and made an excellent block from a Jed Wallace shot. Came up with the assist for Dack’s second goal. Led the defensive line well and used the ball better than in previous weeks.

Derrick Williams 8

Arguably Rovers’ most consistent performer this season is now the joint top scorer after a stunning 25-yard strike made it 1-0. Barely put a foot wrong again at the back.

Greg Cunningham 7

Teed up Williams for the opener, but was only in the second half was he able to provide much of a threat in the final third. Didn’t let much get past him defensively.

Bradley Johnson 7

Played his side in to trouble twice in the first half, but was more assured in his passing after the break and despite a numerical disadvantage didn’t let Rovers be over-run after the break.

John Buckley 6

Was picked to try and get on the ball but struggled to do that in a congested midfield area before being subbed at the break.

Bradley Dack 8

Rovers couldn’t get him in the game in the first half, but he was at his best in the second, linking up play and looking a genuine goal threat. Got the goal his performance deserved and threatened with a side-foot finish.

Stewart Downing 7

Like most, was more involved in the second half, and drew a good save from Bialkowski with a low drive. Kept Rovers moving up the pitch with his distribution and a late break set up a good opening for Rothwell.

Adam Armstrong 6

Improved when he was moved out to the flank in the second half. Denied three separate times by Bialkowski, the best of which came early in the second half when he was denied when clean through.

Subs

Sam Gallagher (for Buckley, 46) 6

A few clumsy touches but his extra running power helped Rovers pin Millwall back.

Joe Rothwell (for Adarabioyo, 62) 7

Came on at a time when the game was becoming stretched and added an attacking presence on the left. Should have had his first of the season late on.

Lewis Travis (for Downing, 85) 6

Added some late energy as the clock ticked down.

Subs not used: Jayson Leutwiler, Ryan Nyambe, Corry Evans, Danny Graham
