While the transfer window for permanent and loan signings for Rovers ended on August 8, teams in League One and League Two, as well as Europe, had until yesterday to shape their squads for the next four months, free agent additions apart.

As the dust settled after a surprisingly busy end to the summer window, Rovers finished with six senior additions, with an outlay of £5m.

As for outgoings, Craig Conway called time on his five-and-a-half years at club in May, rejecting the offer of an extended stay, while goalkeeper David Raya and striker Joe Nuttall banked Rovers an initial £3.5m, with add-ons dependant on their progress at Brentford and Blackpool respectively.

On top of that, club captain Charlie Mulgrew sealed a late move to Championship rivals Wigan Athletic, joining on a season-long loan.

Those were the same terms that took Scott Wharton to League Two side Northampton, Matty Platt to National League side Barrow and Tyler Magloire to League One outfit Rochdale.

Goalkeeper Andrew Fisher was also on the move, joining Wharton at Northampton until January.

As well as the additions at first-team level, Rovers also added to their Under-23s ranks, bringing in goalkeeper Joe Hilton on a two-year deal from Everton, while Tom White joined from Gateshead on the same terms.

That leaves Tony Mowbray with what he would consider to be a 27-man squad, with Amari’i Bell, Jacob Davenport, Ben Brereton and Dan Butterworth currently sidelined, with Dominic Samuel working his way back to fitness.

Of those 27, 15 have started in the Championship in Rovers’ opening six games.

Goalkeepers: Christian Walton, Jayson Leutwiler

Midfielders: Bradley Johnson, Lewis Travis, Richie Smallwood, Corry Evans, John Buckley, Jacob Davenport, Bradley Dack, Joe Rothwell, Stewart Downing, Harry Chapman, Joe Rankin-Costello
