Rovers should conclude two signings on Monday as Tony Mowbray steps up his summer recruitment.

Mowbray hopes to announce two new recruits to strengthen his squad with under two weeks to go until the new season.

Brighton goalkeeper Christian Walton, who has spent the last two seasons with Wigan, is expected to be the first goalkepeer through the door.

A new stopper has been top priority since David Raya was sold to Brentford earlier this month, with Rovers also keen to add a more experienced option.

Tosin Adarabioyo will also sign a season-long loan deal from Manchester City and become the first defensive addition of the summer.

That will take the number of summer recruits to five, with another goalkeeping option, and possible further central defensive signing, expected to be the outstanding bits of business before the window closes on August 8.

“Hopefully we will sign two players tomorrow,” Mowbray said after the 1-1 draw at Rangers.

“Until they are signed it’s never done but hopefully we’ll have some business concluded (on Monday).

“Then we’ll wait and see what’s left.

“We work to a budget and as I’ve done throughout my career I’ve tried to stick to budgets.

“I don’t go back cap in hand to the owners asking for more money.

“When you have to wheel and deal you have to wheel and deal.

“We sold our goalie so we could put the money towards a centre forward and a central defender.

“Sometimes you have to sell to strengthen other parts of your team.

“We’re looking forward to the season. This is my third full year here.

“We managed to get out of League One, stabilised  last year and this season our ambition has to threaten the top six spots.

“When you look at the Championship there are some huge football clubs with some big fanbases so it won’t be easy.”
