Rovers will start the 2019/20 season with a home game against newly-promoted Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks were promoted back to the Championship after beating Sunderland in the League One play-off final.

It is a first home start for Rovers since 2016 and they will go in search of a first opening day win since 2010/11 when a Nikola Kalinic goal secured a 1-0 victory over Everton.

Rovers have won each of the last three meetings at Ewood with Charlton, without conceding, including a 2-0 win in December 2016.

It looks a tough opening month for Rovers who face two of the three relegated Premier sides.

The first away game is a trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, before hosting Middlesbrough, who finished seventh last season.

The first midweek away trip of the season is at Hull City on August 20, before finishing August with a home game against Cardiff, who finished 18th in the Premier League last season, and then travelling to West Brom who were beaten play-off semi-finalists.

Rovers' other midweek away trips see them travel to Birmingham, October 22 and Swansea on December 11.

Over the festive period, Birmingham are the opponents at Ewood on Boxing Day, while Tony Mowbray's side sign off 2019 at Huddersfield on December 29. They start 2020 with at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest.

Rovers' Easter fixtures see them travel to Cardiff on Good Friday before welcoming West Brom to Ewood on Easter Monday.

The final day game at Luton is a 12.30pm kick-off.
