Clarets supporters are being given the chance to get their hands on a little bit of Turf Moor history.
Burnley FC in the Community are putting the wooden seats from the Cricket Field Stand on sale to raise money for several good causes as they are replaced by new plastic ones for the coming season.
They have been in position since 1969 with the sale put on by Burnley’s official charity taking place on the Bob Lord concourse on Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21 between 10am and 2pm.
Entrance is via Harry Potts Way and gate B2.
The seats have been dismantled and consist of the wooden seat, the wooden back and iron supports each side, and are being offered for a voluntary charitable donation of £10 per seat or £15 for two.
Both cash and card payment will be accepted.
The money raised will go to three local charities, the community trust itself, the Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal and Cares Cancer Charity.
Burnley FC in the Community engages with more than 27,000 people every year in East Lancashire and West Yorkshire.
The Barry Kilby appeal, set up by the club’s now vice-chairman, raises awareness of prostate cancer and the importance of testing for the disease in men, many events having been held at Turf Moor.
The most recent saw more than 550 men get checked and nearly £4,000 raised for the charity.
Cares Cancer Charity supports the people of East Lancashire by raising awareness of the importance of early assessment and diagnosis of cancer.
Any local businesses or organisations that would like to purchase a bulk number of seats should contact Sinead on s.kennedypeers@burnleyfc.com or 01282 704 716.
Alternatively call in and speak to staff at the sale.
