ROVERS have announced four pre-season friendlies for their Under-23s this summer.

Damien Johnson’s side enjoyed a productive 2018/19 campaign in which they finished fifth in Premier League 2 after promotion 12 months earlier.

They also reached the last eight of the Premier League Cup and rounded off their season by lifting the Lancashire Senior Cup with victory over Burnley.

Several players also made their first team breakthrough and the likes of Tyler Magloire, John Buckley and Dan Butterworth will be hoping to be in Tony Mowbray’s thoughts in pre-season.

Their first task will try and be on the plane of the week-long training camp in Austria which starts on Wednesday, June 26.

While the first-team start their friendlies on July 6, with a trip to Barrow, the Under-23s don’t get theirs underway until Thursday, July 18.
They start with a trip to Evo-Stik Division One West side Clitheroe, heading to Shawbridge on that date for the game which starts at 7.45pm.

Rovers will once again return to Kendal Town, travelling to the ST & B Accountants Stadium on Tuesday, July 23 (7.30pm).

Their penultimate match is at The Merseyrail Community Stadium as they face Southport in a 1pm kick-off.

Their final match comes on Wednesday, July 31 away at Lancaster City (7pm).

None of the games clash with Rovers’ first-team schedule.
