Rovers have confirmed a friendly with Scottish Premiership side Rangers to complete their pre-season programme.

The game will be played at Ibrox on Sunday, July 21 (3pm) and is the final of Rovers’ six pre-season games to be confirmed.

The club had already announced games with Barrow (July 6), Rochdale (July 14), Mansfield (July 17), Bury (July 24) and Blackpool (July 27), all away from home.

Rovers will kick-off their pre-season plans once again with a week-long trip to Austria on Wednesday, June 26 with the players returning from their close season break on Monday, June 24.

They will then play six friendlies before the new Championship season starts on August 3.

Despite matches against Liverpool and Everton last summer, there will not be a game at Ewood Park this time around.

It is the second successive summer that Rovers will travel north of the border for a friendly after facing Hibs in July 2018.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard guided his side to second in the Scottish Premiership table in his first season in charge.

The two sides last met in July 2010, losing 2-1 in the ‘Sydney Festival of Football’. Maurice Edu and Kenny Miller scored for the Gers, with David Dunn on target for Rovers.
