Would the real Accrington Stanley please take one step forward.

Are we the fast-flowing, all-guns blazing, never-say- die team that has returned home with all three points from Wycombe, Bradford and Dagenham, or the plodding, undercooked side that allowed Wrexham and Bury to walk away with the spoils of victory?

To say that we have had a rollercoaster of a season thus far would be something of an understatement.

However, the signs are overall very good for the legions of the Reds fans.

I think we are a good footballing side that splutters into life like an old motorbike on a cold morning with the help of the trusty easy start, whilst on other days the damp just gets to us and the spark is gone.

The team has more depth than last year with the options on the bench looking stronger than I can ever remember.

Combine this with the management team being one year wiser in League Two and the outlook is positively bright.

If we are to maintain our mid-table position, we need to cut out the sloppy goals given away to lesser teams.

This Friday will be a key test for the defence with Macclesfield visiting us for more Friday night action.

The last Friday night game was a success everywhere, apart from on the pitch!

The attendance was up from the two previous home games and the curry and comedian package the club put on in the buy-the- house lounge was superb.

If you are looking for a different night out this Friday, I can highly recommend it.

This highlights another positive aspect for Stanley's future with the way the club is looking forward. With the appointment of Lewis Carroll as commercial manager, we have new and innovative ideas on raising cash thick and fast.

There are very few guarantees in sport, but after the cracking victory at Dagenham this weekend, we have gone 99 games since a 0-0 draw in the league.

The last time - just for the record - was away at Hereford on the 23rd April 2005.

With this in mind, I think we can pretty much guarantee that Friday night will be entertaining, whichever Stanley team decide to turn up!
