A point apiece was probably the right outcome at Dark Lane, though both sides could have snatched all three points in the closing stages with decent chances at both ends went begging.

It was a poor first half with neither keeper being brought into serious action in the opening half an hour. Chris Kamara had the only effort of note in that period when his shot across Lee Bracey went wide of the far post.

The game finally sprung into life in the 34th minute when Greg Kelly put the visitors in front with a low shot into the far corner.

This seemed to kick start Dale into a response with Mark Redshaw forcing Karl Spratt into a good save, and from the resulting corner Tom Clarkson levelled with a header at the back post.

The second half was much more entertaining, and just five minutes in John Turner sidefooted home Adam Cook's low cross to give Dale the lead.

Redshaw and Clarkson both went close to adding to Dale's advantage, but as the game progressed the visitors became a bigger threat.

It was a poor ball from Cook which set Garforth on their way to the equaliser, Craig harding picked the ball up in midfield and placed an inch perfect ball for Kelly to double his tally and level the scores with 13 minutes remaining.

Brett Renshaw thought he'd won the game for Garforth in the 90th minute but his shot went narrowly wide, and deep into injury time Cook had a chance to nick it for Dale but Spratt came out quickly to block the wingers shot.
