Tony Mowbray says ‘brave’ Daniel Farke deserves great praise for the job he’s done at Norwich as they stand on the verge of promotion to the Premier League.

Six points clear of third-placed Leeds, and with a superior goal difference, the Canaries need, at most, a point from their remaining two games to win promotion.

It has been a meteoric rise for Norwich under Farke, having finished 14th last term in his debut season in charge.

Full backs Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis were named in the EFL, and PFA, team of the year, while 28-goal Teemu Pukki was named Championship player of the season.

Norwich have blended together Academy players with high quality foreign recruits, and Mowbray says Farke has got his side playing an attractive brand of football.

He added: “I think he’s been brave promoting the young players. I’m not sure how much their two young full backs played in the team last season or not.

“We didn’t play in the Championship last season, so didn’t play them, but they played a good brand of football and their recruitment has been key.

“They have bought a lot of foreign players in of high quality who pick the right pass, play with confidence that’s allowing them to flow, keep pressure on the opposition and play high up the pitch.

“They have a centre forward, who in everyone else’s eyes might have been a bit of a gamble, didn’t score a lot of goals at Celtic and has been around the scene, but for some reason he’s been on fire and can’t stop scoring goals which has meant they’ve won lots of football matches.

“They play a nice brand of football, keep the ball moving.

They move the ball around, have a lot of passes, their full backs push on high. They score a lots of goals.”
