Sam Hart hasn’t ruled out staying at League One side Southend United.

The Rovers full back has spent the second half of the season with the Shrimpers after extending his contract with Rovers in January.

Hart, who signed in 2017 from Liverpool, now has a further year to run on his deal at Ewood Park.

He has become a favourite at Roots Hall and was named the club’s player of the month for March.

The 22-year-old has played 17 times for Southend since January, having spent the first half of the season at Rochdale, with the club battling against the drop to League Two, but is yet to make a league start for Rovers

“Right now my focus has to be on the last two games of the season and keeping Southend in League One but I love this club,” Hart told the Essex Echo

“I’m not thinking too far ahead and I won’t be thinking about next season until the final whistle blows against Sunderland.

“I don’t know what will happen but Southend will be a massive part of my plans because I’ve taken to the place, the players, the staff and the fans.

“But we have to make sure we stay up.”
