Charlton boss Lee Bowyer was delighted with Jake Forster-Caskey and Lewis Page’s return to action on Tuesday but has ruled the pair out for this weekends fixtures.
With a trip to Oxford on Friday and Scunthorpe visiting The Valley on Monday, the Addicks boss feels they are still some way from first team football.
Forster-Caskey featured for a half, while Page played 60 minutes in Charlton’s 3-0 Development League win over Burnley on Tuesday, a showing that pleased Bowyer.
“For sure the weekend is too early for them,” said Bowyer.
“But I’m pleased they’ve go those minutes into them, they’ve reacted well.
“If they keep working hard then hopefully they can be in and around the first team before the end of the season, they looked very good.
“It was a perfect game for Jake, the formation they played allowed him to sit in front of the back four and not really have too much pressure on him, he didn’t give the ball away.
“He got through 45 mins with ease, he coasted through and looked very good.
“The same for Page, it was perfect, one v ones against a winger.
“It was a good test for both of them.”
Bowyer confirmed there were no other injury concerns ahead of the trip to Oxford, including Krystian Bielik and Jason Pearce who there were concerns over regarding back trouble and a tight calf respectively.
