IT WILL be a trio of Burnley players aiming to feature at Wembley this evening.

While Tom Heaton and James Tarkowski will hope to be pulling on the Three Lions of evening, club team-mate Matej Vydra could well be on the opposing side.

Czech Republic are England's first opponents in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign which kicks off at Wembley tonight (7.45pm).

Heaton will be hoping to take advantage of a dip in form at club level for Jordan Pickford to start between the sticks, while an opening in central defence for Tarkowski could come with injury to John Stones.

Also in the defensive line could be Harry Maguire, sent off for Leicester against Burnley at the weekend.

And Vydra, who has five goals in 24 caps for his country, said his side would be targeting the England defence.

He told reporters: “(England’s) attack is very strong. Defence, I don’t say it’s not strong as well, but it’s not as strong as the attack,” Vydra told reporters.

“For example, Maguire. We talked about him at Burnley before we played against Leicester. In some moments it seems he doesn’t know what’s happening behind him, that’s why he got a red card after five minutes in the match against Burnley.”

England travel to Montenegro for their second qualifier on Monday, while Czech Republic are in friendly action against Brazil on Tuesday.

Also tonight, Clarets winger Johan Berg Gudmundsson's Iceland travel to Andorra in their first Euro 2020 qualifier.

Things will be tougher on Friday as they travel to face World Cup champions France.

Tomorrow night (5pm), Burnley trio Kevin Long, Robbie Brady and Jeff Hendrick will all aim to be in McCarthy's first starting line-up as Republic of Ireland face Gibraltar.

Their second qualifier will see them host Georgia on Tuesday.
