Tyler Magloire has been withdrawn from Rovers Under-23s side to face Brighton and Hove Albion tonight and is expected to be on the bench for the first team against Wigan Athletic tomorrow.

Magloire travelled with the squad to games against Birmingham City and Rotherham United within the last month, but didn’t make the bench.

However, with captain Charlie Mulgrew having sustained a grade one hamstring injury, and Jack Rodwell also unlikely to feature before the international break, Under-23s captain Magloire will be in the matchday squad tomorrow.

Ryan Nyambe and Derrick Williams, part of a back three in the defeat to Preston at the weekend, are expected to line up as a central defensive pairing for Rovers for the visit of Wigan, with no senior centre halves available.

On Magloire, Mowbray told the Lancashire Telegraph:  “Tyler has been pulled out of the Under-23s because we have to at least have a defender on the bench.

“We have to have some cover. Tyler has been impressive for the Under-23s this season.

“It took them a while to get going, to adapt to the new league, they were losing a lot of games early on but have been on a fantastic run.

“Tyler has adapted, as they all have. I like some of the Under-23s footballers at this club and the future is going to be bright for some of them.

“Magloire won’t play tonight because we need to have some defenders and Tyler is the next one in.

“Charley Doyle is very close as well. We’ve got Wharton, Platt and Grayson out on loan, but no regrets on that, they are out on loan to learn, to play men’s football and against the physicality of men, rather than boys, week in, week out.

“Hopefully the future is bright for the likes of Magloire and Doyle, and those out on loan.”
