Lee Bowyer has called on his midfielders to ease the burden on top goal scorer Lyle Taylor in their hunt for promotion.

Taylor is the clubs top scorer with 12 league goals and since the departure of 14 goal forward Karlan Grant the Addicks have looked toothless in attack.

With Taylor only one game back from suspension, the pressure is on the 28-year-old to hit the ground running, but Bowyer has asked his midfield men to step up.

“We can’t have everything be on Lyle’s shoulders,” said Bowyer.

“When people have a chance they have to grab it, and score."

“Our midfielders, our wide men, they have to start contributing.

“Joe (Aribo), he was contributing so having him back in the squad now is going to help.

“He’ll score a few goals from now and the end of the season, but for sure others have to start contributing.”

Aribo, who has also returned to the first team after being side lined with injury since before Christmas, remains the Addicks second highest scorer behind Taylor with five goals.
