Harry Chapman is set to feature for Rovers Under-23s when they face Everton tonight (7pm).

Chapman hasn’t played since signing from Middlesbrough last month, but could be given some game-time for Damien Johnson’s side.

The Under-23s travel to Southport to face the Toffees just 10 days on from their Premier League Cup tie which ended 1-1.

The 21-year-old winger has played just five competitive matches since suffering the second of two long-term hamstring injuries when playing for Rovers Under-23s in March 2017.

But Chapman is hoping to push his claims for possible first team involvement with an outing for the Rovers youngsters who are currently ninth in the table and looking to pull clear of the two relegation spots.

Jacob Davenport could also play for a second time as he steps up his own claims for a first team spot against Everton who are currently top of the Premier League 2 table.

“I've been training as normal with the lads and then doing my extras in the afternoon when the lads go home - a bit of running, gym, whatever it is, anything extra that I can do to speed up the process,” Chapman told the club website.

“I felt myself that it was something I really needed to do, but it was mainly led by the manager and Chris Rush (Head of Athletic Performance).

“I was really unfit from lack of games and lack of training, but now I'm here, I'm working really hard and I'll be back in the fold soon.

“My sharpness is fine. I still feel the same as I always have done, it's just the base fitness. The longer endurance stuff I've been struggling with, but the last few days I've completed my tests, hit my targets and they've all been passed, so thankfully no more running!

“It's been a long time since I put the blue-and-white on, so I'm excited to get it on and excited to get my first minutes under my belt. I can't wait.

“I'd like to play 90 minutes for the Under-23s to know that I'm ready to sustain a full 90 for the first team if needed.

“I'm itching to get back out there on Ewood. It's been a long time since I've played there, so I'm really excited.

“The plan is to get back fit as soon as possible and to help the team anyway I can.”
