ASHLEY Westwood insists his sides results have dragged more teams in to the relegation dog fight.

Westwood said that his side never give up and they proved this against Southampton in the previous home match.

The midfielder added how the performances have picked up after a tough run of fixtures over the Christmas period.

Westwood highlighted how his Burnley teammates were disappointed to come away from Old Trafford with just a point and that this is the character within the squad.

“We’re still two points away from the drop, but we’ve dragged a few more teams in to it which is what you want to do when you’re down there,” added Westwood.

"We’re on a good little unbeaten at the moment and long may that continue.

“Everyone is saying it, we’re getting more back to the Burnley way.

“Like I said, it’s tough when you’re down there, but we’ve got a lot of confidence in the team now and I think people are starting to see that and this is what we do.

“We know what we do, we are what we are. We work hard and we play when we have to. I think we’re showing that a lot more now.”

Burnley earned a point in their previous match thanks to a 94th minute penalty from Ashley Barnes.

“To come off the United result, it was a disappointment, but that shows the character that we’ve got - to not carry that disappointment on from conceding two late goals, but we go again,” added the midfielder.

“We went again Saturday and we never give up and that got us a vital point in the end.”

Westwood is happy with how his side’s permeances have picked up since the 5-1 defeat at home to Everton over the Christmas period.

“Everyone talks about the Everton result, but before that we were playing really well,” said Westwood.

“We had a tough run against the big teams. We gave Liverpool a run for their money. Coming in to the New Year we’ve started to pick up again.”

Westwood said new signing Peter Crouch has fitted in well since joining on transfer deadline day.

“He’s fitted in straight away. Vokes has gone on to Stoke, he was vital part of the group,” added the midfielder.

“Crouchy coming has added to that. Like when he came on on Saturday, we know what he can do. No matter what he is, he’s got great ability.”
