JEFF Hendrick is happy to play wherever he is needed to help the Clarets stay in the Premier League.

The Burnley midfielder played a key role in the 2-1 victory over Fulham last weekend, having a major part in both goals - scored by visiting defenders Joe Bryan and Denis Odoi.

Hendrick, who extended his contract at Turf Moor until the end of next season earlier this month, played on the right of midfield with injuries and suspension ruling out wingers Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Aaron Lennon and Robbie Brady.

And the Irishman produced a strong showing in the role.

“I’ve played there a few times with Ireland, so I know the role a little bit,” he said. “But wherever I’m put I’ll go out on the pitch and try and help the team.”

Hendrick will hope to be credited with the opening goal against the Cottagers, when his shot cannoned in on Bryan, but admitted the three points were the main thing.

“I don’t know,” said Hendrick on being awarded the strike. "I tried to look at it on the screen when I was trotting back but once we got the goal it was about the three points.

“It was a great goal they scored right at the start and it’s hard, especially in this league. When a team goes ahead, they seem to win or get something out of the game.

“But we knew we had plenty of time and we needed to get back on the front foot and get the ball going forward and we got a few chances and luckily their defenders put it in for us.

“It gave us something to go into half-time with and to cling onto."

Hendrick, speaking to the Clarets website, added: "The group of lads out there, whoever’s playing, can dig in and work for each other and that’s what we did.

“It is massive. Every game is massive and to keep the momentum going the way we have been playing the last few games and the results we’ve pick up. It’s good to that keep going and hopefully we can continue that.”
