Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings after the 1-1 draw with Rotherham United.

David Raya 7

Made a sooner than expected return, and was generally untroubled, but could maybe have got down quicker to keep out Smith’s header.

Elliott Bennett 7

Better in central midfield in the second half, when he fired off two good long range efforts. His extra energy helped keep Rovers on the front foot.

Darragh Lenihan 7

Won several important headers in defence, and played his part in attack, going close with a right wing cross.

Jack Rodwell 6

Looks cool and composed on the ball, and glides through games. Can be a little naïve with his defending at times, and remains a work in progress.

Amari’i Bell 6

Rovers’ best first half play came down their left and had a glorious chance to open the scoring. Still looks too casual on the ball and needs more conviction to his play.

Richie Smallwood 6

Two or three thundering first half chances lifted the crowd and was regularly in the thick of the action, but appeared to tire as the game wore on.

Harrison Reed 6

Took a knock to the knee on the half hour mark and battled on until the break, but didn’t look comfortable in his movements.

Kasey Palmer 6

Played in fits in starts, with too many inconsistencies. Did show flashes of what he can offer, but needs more end product, as showed when firing over in the second half.

Bradley Dack 7

Denied by the legs of Rodak after dancing past two markers, before finding the equaliser by tapping in Brereton’s cross. May need to be cleverer to overcome his close attention of late.

Adam Armstrong 8 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Having more hot than cold days of late, and again looked Rovers’ most threatening attacker. Always looking to beat his full back and get shots off, one which came back off the bar, while also forcing a smart save from Rodak. Feels a matter of time before the goals start to follow.

Danny Graham 6

Just 24 touches, but still could have scored twice, firing too close to Rodak before heading wide of the target in the second half.

Subs

Ryan Nyambe (for Reed, 46) 8

First appearance in six weeks and looked at his sharpest, maurading forward at every opportunity to offer a threat down the right.

Joe Rothwell (for Graham, 77) 7

Could be an option more often when Rovers are trying to break down stubborn defences, with three key passes after coming on.

Ben Brereton (for Smallwood, 77) 7

A valuable contribution off the bench as his cross was turned in by Dack to level the scores.

Unused subs: Jayson Leutwiler, Paul Downing, Lewis Travis, Craig Conway
