WELL that was a bit frustrating wasn’t it?

After the snoozefest at Cardiff the week before, I was fully expecting a return to the kind of scintillating action we saw against Bournemouth.

Instead, we were treated to a display which I couldn’t quite fathom.

Yes, we played well enough in the first half and got our noses in front when Sam Vokes did superbly to head home a fantastic Johann Berg Gudmundsson cross.

But that aside it was another un-Burnley like performance.

I think we all expected Huddersfield to come out and give it a go in the second half but they were the best side by a country mile for most of the final hour.

We all know there are no easy games in the Premier League but given how poorly they’ve started the season – and the fact we were on a run of two wins on the spin – I expected a bit more intent.

Sean Dyche is right to say it is seven points from nine and I’d have been more than happy with that at the start of the run.

But the level of performance not being what it should is the more worrying factor than the overall points gained.

I am sure Dyche has a solution, and that he’s a lot calmer than me about the situation, so we need to give him time to get it right.

I just hope it is sooner rather than later because after this international break we’ve got a run of games that looks tough.

It’s interesting that there’s been reports of the club looking for a technical director to work with Dyche to improve our transfer dealings.

The transfer windows have been our Achilles heel for the last few years so something needs to be done.

All our business was done very late in the window and that should not have been the case.

Having secured Europa League football – for the early stages at the very least – Turf Moor should have been a destination of choice for players.

Clearly we have a few issue in either identification of players or getting deals over the line.

And while the appointment of a technical director isn’t a magic wand, it will hopefully help Dyche both identify and then get the targets he wants.
