MATCH of the Day pundit Danny Murphy was impressed with Johann Berg Gudmundsson as Burnley ended their wait for a first win of the season against Bournemouth.

The Clarets record-breaking 4-0 win against Eddie Howe's side was shown second on Saturday night's programme and it was the Iceland winger who caught the eye of Murphy.

"Gudmundsson was just about the star of the show, Aaron Lennon also did really well," he said.

"I've seen Sean Dyche do this before, a left-footer on the right and a right-footer on the left and the Bournemouth full-backs couldn't cope with it in the first half.

"Gudmundsson has got a sweet left foot, his crossing is as good as I've seen and Lennon gets in at the back post as you want your wide men to do, it was a good finish, he's not been in the goals enough.

"Gudmundsson puts a cross in on his right foot, I love a winger who can go either way, the full-back really has problems then. "Gudmundsson's all-round game was terrific, the lad he was up against first half (Diego Rico) got taken off at half-time because of the runaround he was given.

"He's unlucky here (for the third goal), it hits the post and comes out to Barnes."

Murphy added: "It was like the Burnley we saw last season. No game in midweek, they were fresh, I think Burnley will be absolutely fine.

"They've got Cardiff and Huddersfield in the next two weeks, two big games for them that will get them back on track.

"They did better last season than anyone gave them credit for."
