Bradley Dack believes Rovers can cause something of a surprise in the Championship this season.

The 24-year-old says there won’t be much expected of Tony Mowbray’s side following promotion from League One, but there is great belief within the club that they can enjoy a successful season.

Dack returned to the side, and was back among the goals, in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa last weekend, after a four game absence.

Following a 0-0 draw at Derby County on Tuesday a trip to Stoke City rounds off a busy week for Rovers against three of the division’s heavyweights.

“It’s a tough fixture list this month but it will be a good test for us to see where we are,” said Dack.

“These are the games you want to play in.

“Everyone’s picking up results so we’ll go there (to Stoke) and have full belief that we can take something off them.

“We’ll just keep plugging away. No-one expected us to do much after coming up from League One but we have belief in our group and our team so we’ll just take every game as it comes and maybe come Christmas see where we’re at.”

This is Dack’s first taste of life in the Championship, having twice won the League One player of the year prize.

He has three goals in five league matches so far, as well as a brace in the Carabao Cup against Carlisle.

The attacker has been receiving plenty of plaudits, and attention, not least from West Brom who made a late play for him last month.

On life in the second tier, he added: “I’m enjoying it. There were a few question marks against me because I’ve never played there before, but I believe in my ability and it’s going really well for me.

“There’s just a bit more speed, pace and power, better players on the ball. Everyone makes better decisions, I think that’s the main difference.”

Dack is targeting double figures this season and is  hoping to put an early season injury behind him as he did last year when he went on to net 18 times.

“On a personal note it’s obviously been a good start to the season,” he added. “It wasn’t nice to have the injury and be out for four games, but I’m happy to be back now and hopefully I can stay fit between now and the end of the season.”
