ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman believes his side’s strength in depth is pushing the team onto new heights.

The Reds are unbeaten in League One since the opening day of the season and although they have drawn their last four games 1-1, Stanley remain in the top half of the table ahead of a home clash with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Coleman strengthened his hand with a flurry of loan signings late last month and believes the squad he currently possesses is one of the strongest he has had in his managerial career.

And he hailed Stanley’s squad stars as part of the reason for the success.

Many of them were given a run-out in the Lancashire Senior Cup win over Morecambe on Monday afternoon, including Ben Richards-Everton, Matty Platt, Piero Mingoia, Erico Sousa, Danny Williams and Andy Mangan.

And the Reds chief believes their application and hard work is having an impact on the starting XI.

“We have good players in our squad and it was very difficult to make decisions.” said Coleman.

“Luke Charman pulled his quad and he was out of the squad (at Fleetwood) and we have players to come back in.

“Players are missing out, Andy Mangan was champing at the bit as was Erico and Danny. Matty is really keen to get a good go at centre half and these are players who are really moving forward.

“It is really encouraging when you go into training and see how hard they work and how talented they are and if we keep playing like we are then we will soon start winning games.”
