Daryn Smit (Darwen)

DERBYSHIRE’S South African batsman will add experience and skill to the Darwen batting line-up.

Smit proved he can score heavily in his three seasons with Ramsbottom in the Lancashire League.

The 34-year-old has scored 5,711 first-class runs, including nine tons, in his native country.

Smit also provides a bowling option. The leg spinner has 245 wickets in just 69 matches during his Lancashire League career.

Steven Croft (Burnley)

THE former Lancashire one-day captain is a more than capable batsman who also bowls off-spin.

Croft hit the winning runs at Taunton to guide Lancashire to their first County Championship title in 77 years in 2011.

He was named Red Rose player of the season that year and is still a mainstay of the Lancashire squad.

He was named in England’s provisional 30-man squad for the 2012 World T20 although he didn’t make the final selection.

Sean Ervine (Clitheroe)

THE Hampshire all-rounder has 47 caps for Zimbabwe, including five Test appearances with his debut coming at Lord’s.

Ervine played in the 2003 World Cup but now concentrates on his county career.

He scored 237 not out against Somerset in the County Championship in 2013 and earlier this week joined Derbyshire on loan in search of regular cricket.

Werner Coetsee (Ramsbottom)

THE 35-year-old spinner has been a Rammy regular this season.

He has taken 24 wickets this term with a best of 4-27 to keep his side in the title chase. He averages 22 with the bat and has a high score of 41.
