Rovers promotion winner Jack Payne has joined Bradford City on loan.

Payne finished last season on loan at Ewood Park and held talks with parent club Huddersfield Town about his future this summer.

The 23-year-old has just a year left to run on his contract at the John Smith’s Stadium, after joining from Southend United in the summer of 2016, and has been allowed to join the Bantams on a year-long deal.

Payne arrived at Rovers in January after his loan deal at Oxford United was cut short.

He started seven matches, and made a further 11 appearances off the bench, scoring in the final day win over former loan club Oxford.

Payne spoke in glowing terms of his time in East Lancashire, and although Tony Mowbray was an admirer of his talents, Rovers opted against pursuing a permanent deal this summer.
