SCUNTHORPE United boss Graham Alexander was pleased with his side’s response to twice going behind as they bounced back to earn a point at Ewood Park.

The Iron trailed twice to Danny Graham strikes early in either half but hit back quickly on both occasions thanks to goals from Kevin van Veen and Conor Townsend.

And Alexander felt his side showed no panic on the two occasions in which they fell behind and was pleased with the point which they came from behind to earn.

“We have built that up over the last 18 months and have got a fantastic record of coming from behind in both the last two seasons and winning points,” Alexander said.

“We reacted really well to disappointments. We don’t get too down and realised there was a long way to go.

“There was no point panicking after six minutes and in the second half there was still a long way to go.

“Goals can happen in a quick space of time and I always believe in the quality we have.

“We took a couple of slaps but I said to the players their commitment and work ethic was fantastic to see and be a part of.

“We always try to keep our composure and make sure we perform as well as we can.”

While Tony Mowbray felt Rovers’ performance did enough to merit the three points, his opposite number felt his side deserved the point in which they took back to North Lincolnshire.

“It was not ideal going behind twice but we knew we were coming to a very good team on a fantastic run,” he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“We knew we would be under a serious challenge but we wanted to be a serious challenge and I thought we were.

“We never let Blackburn rest easy, always offered a goal threat and scored two goals of good quality.

“We were committed and competed but took a couple of body blows at the start of each half but as we’ve done many times before we’ve recovered really well.

“We came here confident we could put on a performance and came here to win the game.

“That hasn’t turned out to be the case but we more than competed on the day and showed the quality we have within the squad.

“I felt we deserved a point away from home just for the commitment and mentality going into the game.”
