BURNLEY are still waiting on X-Ray results for injured striker Andy Gray.

The 29-year-old was sent to hospital after suffering a foot injury with just two minutes to go in the Clarets 2-1 win over Leeds on Tuesday night.

But the results and the full extent of the damage still remain a mystery although manager Steve Cotterill's early fears were that the club's top scorer could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

If that was the case then Gray would miss important matches in December against Ipswich, Coventry, Sunderland, Derby, Barnsley and Hull.

And it couldn't have come at a worse time for Gray who netted his first goal in four games against Leeds, his tenth of the season.

Gray and Gifton Noel-Williams were among the goals on Tuesday night and Cotterill said he was pleased for the pair to get back on the scoresheet.

He said: "They were great goals. Gifton scored with his laces.

"I was delighted for him because he takes a lot of the buffeting.

"I think Andy may have gone four games without a goal so that will do them great.

"I'm delighted for the strikers when they score goals.

"They are a big part of the team and the dressing room.

"I spoke to Andy before the game and said I felt that Andy was coming closer to scoring than Gifton.

"I thought though that Gifton had gone and worked his way back into it recently because I always think you've got to work for a bit of credit in this life, no matter what you do.

"I think that Andy and Gifton dropped a little bit after they had scored those goals.

"They relaxed a little bit and I think that when you relax, then you don't score the goals and you wonder why you're not scoring anymore.

"They've come back to the fore in the last few games which have been big, tough matches for them and they've got their rewards.

"Sometimes you don't always get your rewards when you think you deserve them.

"Then it's all about staying focused and having a good work ethic and carrying on doing what scored you the goals in the first place.

"Those goals which they have scored have been due for them for two or three games now because I think they have been playing really well."

With the loan transfer window now closed Cotterill's options up front are limited, which could mean a return to the starting line-up for Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty.

It could also be good news for veteran Graham Branch although Steve Jones can also operate up front.
