STEVE Cotterill hailed his front duo Andy Gray and Gifton Noel-Williams as Burnley defeated 10-man Leeds 2-1 last night to end their losing streak.

The Clarets jumped one place to fourth in the Championship after winning the Battle of the Roses clash at Turf Moor.

They took full advantage once Leeds defender Hayden Foxe received his marching orders seven minutes after the interval for two bookable offences.

Noel-Williams sent Burnley ahead midway through the second-half and Gray added a second just two minutes later, while David Healy's deflected goal provided a late scare.

Gray took his season's goal tally to 10, but the Yorkshire-born striker was taken to hospital last night after picking up a foot injury.

Cotterill - who believes Gray and Noel-Williams have formed a good partnership - is hoping Gray's problem is not too serious.

"I'm delighted with them scoring," said Cotterill.

"But I'm a little bit worried about Andy Gray.

"He is going off to hospital for an X-Ray on his foot. He's struggling moving it up and down.

"It's a kick and not a twist.

"If it ended up being an ankle bone or one of those metatarsals, or whether it's ankle ligaments, we are talking six weeks. That's the worrying thing.

"We are just hoping that one is good news.

"Andy and Gifton have formed a great partnership.

"I was absolutely delighted with them."
